"Laying to Rest" was born from a profound respect for nature's cycles and the human stories woven through them. Our founder, a master woodworker, created the first "Laying to Rest" casket for a loved one, discovering how the act of crafting with care could transform grief into something beautiful.
Today, each "Laying to Rest" casket continues this tradition of thoughtful craftsmanship, blending sustainable practices with deeply personal tributes. We honor every life story through materials that will nurture new growth, creating a legacy that extends beyond remembrance.

We use exclusively biodegradable materials including FSC-certified wood, beeswax finishes, and plantable paper that transforms into wildflowers. Our packaging and shipping materials are fully compostable.
Each piece celebrates natural imperfections - the tool marks and wood grain variations that tell the story of human hands shaping natural materials. We reject mass production in favor of meaningful craftsmanship.
Our designs emerge from careful observation of forests, soil layers, and organic growth patterns. Colour palettes are drawn from mushrooms, bark, and earth tones that change gracefully over time.

When we lost my father, we wanted something that reflected his love of nature. The "Laying to Rest" casket was perfect - simple, beautiful, and knowing it would return to the earth brought us great comfort. Six months later, the wildflowers from the seed paper bloomed on his grave. It felt like a continuation of his spirit.
